Art and integrated curriculum. A consideration of interstates curriculum became essential. With that, the TETAC project was made to do so linking arts to other areas of the school curriculum. Basically, integrated curriculum involves decisions about how many school subjects will be linked in for what length of time, how teacher planning will occur and how school schedule will be affected. Arts are a major part of human values, beliefs, occupations, and achievement. Meaningful integrated curriculum requires a focus, such as an enduring idea, them, or issue. I leaned that just teaching a common topic provided by various school subjects does not produce meaningful learning. The link must be stronger then just a little bit of art, history, literature, because the kids are just collecting information not really linking them. In art curriculum it is important to have the use of metaphorical understanding. As said by Arthur Efland "It is in art where the experience, nature and structure of metaphor becomes the principal object of study." I learned about the Aesthetic dimensions of knowing. Now there it just got deep. And that's all for chapter 7.
